BACKGROUND

JOANNA, an experienced and passionate designer, has keen interest of storytelling through her design. Up-brought with a formal art training, Joanna has further graduated with Bachelor of Arts in Environment and Interior Design from The School of Design, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and subsequently pursued her career as an interior designer, with an artful approach in her projects.

Prior to co-founding MATTER, Joanna worked as Design Director at the renowned ‘Steve Leung Designers (SLD)’, where she masterminded an extensive range of projects including show homes, clubhouses, residential and restaurant projects in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Mainland China. Representative projects include YOO residence, The Hampton, Double Cove, Hill Paramount, High Park Grand and Kau To Highland. Among these projects, YOO Residence particularly came to light and was awarded with IIDA Annual Interior Design Competition and Asia Pacific Property Awards Best Interior Show Home in 2014.

Throughout the years, Joanna has established a distinctive design language, yearns to achieve a simple prestige style, with sensible and efficient spatial planning, while maintaining cost effectiveness and practicality. In recent years, Joanna further actualise her design vision at MATTER and has strengthened the basis of her design by an engaging storyline, tailored to the context and history of the premises. With this unique approach, Joanna had received the M+ China Top Interior Design Award in 2018 & Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards in 2020.
