Private Residential Care Home and Retirement Housing for the Elderly with 229-Bed Places, under Social Welfare Department’s “Scheme to Encourage Provision of Residential Care Home for the Elderly Premises in New Private Developments” (“RCHE Scheme”)

With a clear vision to redefine the conventional notion of “aging” as well as operation model of traditional homes, the client, operator and designer worked closely for a retired living environment encouraging positive, joyful and independent lifestyle, where the elders can eat well, sleep well and enjoy life to the full.
 
The design and planning cater for a people-directed caring model that embraces diversity and encourages interaction.  The diversity of resident's living habit and preference are attended in a personal way, enabling them to “feel at home” 

DIVERSITY & FREEDOM OF CHOICE
 
Respecting individuality and diversities of residents, unlike large, centralized rooms as in traditional homes setting offering limited choice, the activity areas are provided with a variety of spatial settings at communal floors of “the Plaza” and “the Club”, as well as “the Living Rooms” at dormitory floors. The setting not only offers the residents’ independence and freedom of choice, but also re-capturing a “going out” experience to meet friends, relax, learn and interchange.
 
INVOLVEMENT & WELL BEING
 
The various activity space aimed to encourage interaction and involvement of the residents. The event space, workshops, bazaar and gallery provide opportunities for the residents to learn, create and share their experience and talent. On the other hand, the health, fitness and well-being of the residents are taken care of by the medical consultation, rehabilitation and gym, grooming, spa and massage facilities.
